My 96runner came with a hood with scoop from a newer truck. It is a factory hood, my problem is that the insert is missing and im left with a big hole and my motor is getting covered with crap, is this something the dealer would sell or am i out of luck.

Isn't the whole point of a hood scoop to let air in? The 'crap' comes with the territory...

 

Since there is no performance benefit of the true scoop to a stock 3rd gen then I'll gladly trade the OEM scoop's "riceability" for a clean engine compartment anyday.
