Hitch Mounted Cargo Trays
Anyone have one of these?
I'm shopping for one right now, and was looking at the one that DeeZee puts out.

Any others that I should look into?
I like the DeeZee one because the sides are deeper than most.

As an aside, I highly recommend an anti-rattle device like these:

It'll stop the slop from how the shank fits into the receiver.

I've got one.... love it. I primarily got it to use during archery season, but have used it for many other things since (picking up tall shrubs/bushes/trees, etc). I decided to go with the Better Built Bumper Buddy because it was aluminum (lighter than the steel ones), folds flat against the liftgate when not in use, and won't rust. Being light, its easier to hanging on the wall when not in use and hitches/unhitches easily.
I pretty sure I paid about $145 for mine two years ago.
Edit: The is one major downer to using one of these. They drastically reduce your approach/departure angles. I drug mine across several rocks getting out the mile long trail from camp while fully loaded after a successful hunt. Got slightly bent up, but proved to be a pretty tough carrier. Folded up its not too bad, but even then, the steel hitch adapter that allows it to fold-up sticks out about 10".

I have one that was custom made. It is as wide as the 4runner and also has a spare tire mount. The tire mounts inline like the tires on the truck. sorry no pictures.. The tire and basket swing out for access to the rear. The only down side is no serious off roading due to poor gound clearance. Mine mounts in the receiver and bolts on to the sides of the hitch. It sticks out the same distance as the 33 inch tire.

Ive been wanting to get one of the folding ones that folds up and then mount a tire carrier on the bottom so it can be folded up and used as a tire carrier. Though, now that I think about it, that won't help you b/c you already ahve one :pat:

I was looking for a good way to store gas cans for my road trip coming up, this seemed like my best bet. They are a little pricey for something I'll only use a few times though

I was thinkin' I wanted the same thing (some kinda hitch mounted gas can carrier), and was gonna look into getting one fabbed in the future, but that's a way down the line. Something you could easily pull from the hitch so you could get unrestricted access to the back, with a couple gerry-can cages on it.
But hopefully tucked in to the rig so it wouldn't serious affect departure angles etc... Post if you find something you like!
Edit: It'd be tough to get that kind of thing to wrap around your spare and not obscure the tail lights though. hmmmmm.

They are expensive but nice! They even swing out away from you rig so you can open the back.
