kits are gay, cheaper to buy off of ebay, theres enough fvckers driving around w/ glare up the ass. i think any hid's used in halogen housings should warrant an automatic fine.

 

I do lot's of highway driving...and my HID's have saved me from lot's of deer/moose/fox collisions. The higher the Kelvin the better the pigment in the animals eye's show..I can see animals eyes lit up a quarter mile away so that I know to slow down cause of them randomly running out in front of me. So hate on the HID's....but also remember that new Audi & BMW's have HID's factory and are DOT approved. I do agree with the Ebay satement, I work for an Insurance corporation and I have heard of fires being started cause of cheap chinese made conversion kits. HID's are here to stay...whether you like them or not....drive with them once and you'll see the difference.

Gentlemen we are not going to get into another discussion on the pros and cons of HID conversions. We have done that before ad nausium all that happens is people on both sides get all bent out of shape.
Let us just say that if you want them, get them but make sure you get a good quality kit, install it properly and have your headlights aimed correctly.
They should be aimed anyway but with HIDs it is critical.
I'm not trying to infringe on free speech just stop a fight before it starts lol...

 

i wasnt trying to start an argument. hands down, hid's are s.hit. Jay, you see those animals' eyse a quarter of a mile down the road because of GLARE. BMW's, Audi's, even the toyota prius do have HID's. however, theyre DOT approved because they are either being used in a HID (not cheapo halogen) projector, or in a HID (not halogen once again) reflector with a special D2R bulb. both throw down light more effectively and efficiently than any halogen product will with substantially less glare. you say the higher kelvin, the better the eyes show? so what are you running? 8000K (the internet's advertised "best" mix of color and light) or 30000k so you can see the animal a mile down the road? anything over 6k totally defeats the purpose of having light and switches over to making your car/truck look like rice. hate on HID kits i will. a lot of times people esp people w/ H4's/dual filament bulbs get just low kits, and aim them high so they can see okay since they dont have a high function anymore. if im gonna get blinded boy your p.o.s. egay kit, ill give you 50w of HID in your face w/ my high beams.

I know you were'nt try to start something hilo... but it only takes one post to get the whole arguement started again... I was just trying to head it off at the pass... not singling you out at all... just making a general statement to both sides of the issue is all...

 

Not entering the HID fray here, but I picked up some high quality bulbs for my 4runner and Accord. Sure-they are not the uber cool HID-but they light much better than the $5 bulbs sold at Wally World. I think they are about $20 each and are made in Germany. They are street legal and sold everywhere. Bulbs get dim over time-so you might be overshooting with a HID conversion. Not to mention the legal ramifications.

 

better halogen bulbs along with a wiring harness can work wonders for those who choose to stay w/ halogens. i have silverstar ultras in my impreza right now, and they are a lot brighter and a tad bit whiter than my regular bulbs, and imo are worth the 20 bucks they costed me. they'll do until i do my e46 retro in the coming weeks. i have to say though, once you go hid (the correct way, that is), you wont want to settle for anything less. yes HID bulbs lose lumens over time, but over the course of over 1000hrs that you have really bright light, its great.
