Help Dad's 1997 runner needs an engine!

My Dad's 1997 4runner has a "main bearing problem" and he is looking for an experienced shop in the northern Philladelphia area to rebuild or swap his engine. He Loves his runner and wants to fix her right.

All suggestions are greatly appriciated.

Its a 1997 6cyl. He was already looking at a salvage yard but I am looking for a good shop to do the work. I know how these things can get messy with the wrong shop. I just want him to get back on the road like he was before as best as possible.

Thanks for any help.

car-parts.com shows them in your area from around $500-$1800 depending on the yard. If i was on that side of the country i could probably give you some help on where to do the install.

X2 on the salvage yard. I think I got 1,200 into my motor swap, thats with a new clutch and fly wheel. Yota yard in denver, they ship but you prob could find one closer to home cheaper. oh what about a couple of buddys to help out, and a picker.. my brother and I did mine. and trust me, he knows alot more than me

Could you elaborate on the "main bearing problem". Just want to ensure an engine swap is the best solution.
