hard to start, battery? starter?

I've noiticed that during the past 2 weeks my 4runner has been slow to start. Kind of like a weak battery.

1996 110K miles 4runner with origonal battery, starter, alternator.
The battery has a gauge on it and its reads OK
Is there a way I could check the battery or charging system. I dont want to be stranded one day.

Take it to your local autoparts store - most of them will test your system, alternator, battery, and starter, for free.

I just had a similar problem yesterday morning it crancked a few times then started the click click thing.. dead battery
Got a Optima redtop yesterday
But may want to also get them to test the alterntor to be sure its charging properly.
Mine was also teh orginal on my 96 that has about 101K so I think the old girl went way past its life expectancy any ways.

My original Toyota battery died in my 1991 last year. 130k+ miles and over 12 years old. It was freakin amazed.

Lucky I guess
Yeah mine was a panasonic one too (try dealer) but I got the Optima Redtop to replace it and hopefully it will last just as long. Well for the money I hope it does.
