First Oil Change!

First Oil Change!
Well guys I just got done changing my oil for the first time. Switched it all out for M1 Synthetic Oil, but I do have one question. In the manual it says to add 5.5 Quarts of oil.... when I look at the dipstick it is only half way between both lines. Is this ok? Not that big of a problem? Oh yea and that oil filter was a pain in the ass to get off.
Thanks for your help guys.

just as churnd says, you might need to add more or less, depending on the dipstick reading. i would add though that if you are checking the oil temp while the engine is cold and NOT idling, go on the low side of the range b/c when your engine heats up, the oil will expand from the heat. You can test this by checking your oil in the morning...and later when you get home and shut off your engine after a long day's drive.

You didn't say what year or which engine you have, but I've heard that on the 3.4Ls you can reach through the wheel well and grab the oil filter that way. Supposed to be much easier.

I have had several representitives from Havoline and Toyota visit our dealership and they really stressed to all of the technicians to not use synthetic oil until new cars have reached 10,000 miles. Just a little FYI.
