Using the retractable cord lets you put the light/magnet anywhere you need it.

More pics and a install write-up on my 4Runner site.
A buddy of mine is looing for one of these like mine. Do they sell these anywhere?

I haven't done this mod, but as poomba said above most all full size chevy truck from the 90's had a light that was mounted to a retractable cord, about 5-6' I think I know far enough to reach accross the engine bay. This should be a very easy junk yard find. I'll see if I can find a pic

My 91 Chev. Suburbon had the best under the hood light I ever seen. It was on a retractable system with enough cord to go all the way to the back of the truck and had a really strong magnet on it. Then It would coil back up or retract and store away in the back firewall. Really handy. Wish I had kept it when I junked the Surburbon. Had that truck for 11 years and never had to replace the bulb in that light. Mike

Anyone got a part number of the Jeep light? This post is so old, the links to the items on Ebay are dead. I'd really like to do this as well. I can't believe that the 4Runner doesn't have one.

Hi Jason;

Man you're lucky I'm a pack rat!

I found out the hard way that with that lamp installed under my hood, it happens to hit the supercharger pulley in such a way that the pulley acts like an awesome grinding wheel and it cut right though the light housing. oops.

Long story short... I should have tossed the remains, but... I didn't.

The lettering/numbers on mine read:
ITT

8956000718
And a quick run through Google finds:

Awesome! I wish these still sold these. I'd add it to the website. I get emails all the time asking for them.

If you don't want the rest of yours, let me know. I may want it for a "spare".
