E-Locker on 2WD

E-Locker on 2WD
I have a 1998 T4R limited 2wd. Is there any chance that I could put a e-locker in my 2wd like the 4wd have? If so how hard is this to do and how much price wise?
Thanks

I'm not sure if you're fully getting the low range concept or not, but that's besides the point. You can put an e-locker in your rear axle but it requires a little cutting and welding where the diff (3rd member) bolts up. Or, you could buy a complete elocked axle, but either way you'll need to wire it all in too. They're both relatively expensive if you don't DIY. If you do, I've seen elocked 3rds go for ~$300-650. Axles, ~$700-1000.
The cheaper route (which makes more sense for a 2wd IMO) is to get an Aussie or a Lockright locker for ~$300 and the labor is pretty easy to DIY or fairly cheap if you have it done. Search, there's lots of threads on this and your rear axle is the same as the 4x4 4runners.

Okay thanks brain I will search around the aussie locker might be the route I take and scuba I understand it wont go everywhere just going through a nice mud hole is all i need, it will mainly be on trails not going complete mudding.
Thanks for the fast replies and help!

I agree with brian. An aussie or lockright will be 3 times cheaper just not so DD friendly. Though, I hate saying an auto locker is "not as DD friendly" because I DD my junk and don't mind my lockright.
Just my 2 cents.
Just my 2 cents.
