deckplate mod on 1st gen

hey i cant see how i could do it on a first gen, and there are no write ups for it, has anyone done it?

Or you can just buy a maf adapter and use a cone filter attachment. So you dont need the airbox anymore.

wow i looked right over that write up, i didnt think itd work cuz that one is the 3.0 liter, but it sounded like itd work.

he suggested getting a k&n drop in filter, i most likely will sooner or later

It's just drilling holes in the airbox. It will work with any vehicle that has an airbox.

i took the spoiler thing out and can already tell a difference in sound, i duno if im guna drill holes yet tho

As I'm sure you saw, the 22re just doesn't have enough room on any of its sides for the larger 4" deck plates. I've been thinking about trying a 2 inch abs drain outlet end. The kind that you screw a cap on to. The deck plate mod is better then just drilling crazy holes everywhere due to the risk of water ingestion.

I was thinking on doing the deckplate mod on my truck. Just wondering, are there any issues I should be worried about getting it inspected in virginia? Thanks

Dont buy those cheap cone filters off ebay, they are complete chit. When I got mine, I could see through the filter. I had it on my truck for a week and it messed up my MAF. Straight to the trash it went. Dont make the mistake I made....

No, you are only increasing airflow not messing with any of the engine or emissions controls.
I have never heard of anyone having a problem before with this.
