I recently had my 22re rebuilt and the machinest put a bigger cam in.These are the specs.I don't know which brand it is though.Is this a good size?The specs say it is a cam # 801 grind # 272

Dur deg. @ .050
int. 220 exh. 220


Valve lift .431 .431

Not sure on the specs, lift sound good, but wonder if there is a typo on the duration. Here are some specs for the TRD 22R cams:

This is the only thing I can find on this cam,and I'm not even postive it's for mine.

This is a new regrind, It it is legal in "stock lift" racing classes. The duration is what gives you the huge advantage over the stock camshaft. The specs are 220’ duration @ .050 .410 lift. Rpm range 1500-4800 during the crucial torque area. No new springs needed, we recommend new rocker arm when installed and your good to go. No problems with passing emissions or idle, this is about as good as it gets when it comes to performance and still being able to pass.

 

sounds a little wierd on the duration too, i think mine's 268/430

 

That's what I was thinking.He gave me the cut out part of the box with the specs on it.

 

The duration specs may be at the 0.050" opening, so it is hard to tell how that relates to the full duration that most other case spec. With the "272" in the part number, I would guess that 272 degrees is in one or more of the durations at 0 lift.

 

It does say dur. deg @ .050 is 220

 

While duration at 0.050" is sort of what counts, most cams are spec'd as the maximum duration, so it is hard to compare one cam spec'd at 0.001" lift and another at 0.050". I guess if the cam works and is better than stock, then it is OK. Looks to be sort of a mild RV-type cam.

 

Man this is bugging me.I have driven the truck and it has more low end but not too much up top.I haven't reved the crap out of it but I can tell there isn't too much on the top end.I called the machinest and he said that his cams are custom ground.I wish I knew what cam exactly this is.I contacted that company I posted up top and he said it wasn't his cam so...
