Daytime Running Lights
Has anyone tried re-wiring their daylight running lights that would make the fogs go ON instead of the headlights? Care to share the procedure?

I don't remember off hand which wire it is but I will take a look later this weekend if you can wait. Work and everything, ya know? It is just one wire to clip underneath the dash.

Here's a link to the TSB for disabling the DRL's. It's irritating to understand at first, but if you stare at it long enough, it makes sense. Basically, for 3rd Gen Runners, find the DRL Main relay (Under dash on driver's side), find connector D8 and cut the wire on pin 2. I tried it and had some problems. The DRL's did indeed cease to function, but my Hi-beam indicator would glow very dimly until I turned the lights on then back off again. Now I'm pretty sure it was because of the way the guys that installed my alarm hooked it into the headlights. Been meaning to try to fix that and try it again, just never got around to it.
JaRuEL: I know this doesn't really answer your question, but it might get you started. Try a multi-meter on the wire on pin 2, see if it's hot when the DRL's are supposed to be on. If so, you could hook up a relay and a diode to prevent backflow. I tried to figure the DRL relay out while I was messing with it. It really hurt my head to try to understand it, so I'm sure it's probably not going to be this simple. Good luck!
