Dash Rattle...

I have a dash rattle in the passenger side somewhere behind the glove box and the airbag. i cannot see or feel anything that is loose, i have already cleared out the glovebox thinking that was causing it, it sounds like hard plastic wacking metal. it has been getting worse lately too.

any suggestions to where i should continue to look would be greatly appreciated.

Thankyou,
Kyle

If you have a handbrake on the center console, check for slack in the cable by slightly pulling up the handbrake when the noise is present. My cable was resonating because it was loose. Sounded like something around the airbag.

passenger side dash rattle

I have the same issue in my 2nd gen- dash rattle, behind glove box.
I have tightened all screws that I can find, taken everything out of the box...
are there any other possibilities? there is nothing worse than listening to that rattle all the time...are there any damping fixes without taking the whole dash out?

Do either of you have a BL?
If so check the brake lines in the engine compartment.
When I lifted mine the plastic clip holding the lines to the firewall broke and caused a rattle that sounded like it was behind the glove box.

good luck

does it happen just over bumps? or when you hit a hard part in the road (like a split). Is it like a sharp tap? I had a noise kinda similair and what i did to cure it was with 3, 1inch pieces of that weatherstripping type foam. I placed it between the plastic front defrost section and the window. One at each side and one in the middle. It may have been the clips that hold that seperate section down or it was tappin the glass..either or it worked.

its a hard rattle. like "dat dat dat..." over harsh bumps. its not a vibration, my brother was listening close today and he said it sounds like metal on metal. all i know is that it is loud and annoying now. it has gotten worse the past week. im going to i guess take the glove box door off and see if i can see anything up there that might be loose, im hoping that it isnt behind the ac blower and stuff.

ya try the foam first.. the noise i had was for sure a "DAT"..another way to do it is to pop off the center console area to access the cd player and such..you have a good visual with a flashlight from there to some components above/behind the glove box.
