I cranked my Knig coilovers so the CV boot is about 1/16 of and inch from touching is this mproper or should i lower the height a little i was told as long as the cv boot does not touch that it would not damage my cv's is this correct or do i need to lower my coil overs Thanks

What are they 1/16" of touching!?

Do you mean that the clearance between the fins are 1/16"?

If you've never changed your boots, chances are they will blow. The actual CV joint will not be destroyed though.

Once you get new Toyota boots on, they will last for quite a while with that angle. I'd probably tone them down to as little as possible though. Are you rubbing or just want extra height? If its the height you want, throw on a 1" BL or something!

 

do they make the boots like the older yotas had with the fins being farther apart?

 

They r not touching just close to touchin g but i thought as long as they arnt i would be fine, i just put a OME 891 with OME shocks on rear and i wanted to get a little extra height in front i had not really cranked on my Kings and i did now and it sits slightly higher in rear which is what is wanted but i just wanted to know how far i could push it on the coilovers the ride still is nice but the fins r about 1/16 away from touching and dont want to mess up my boots

 

The more angle the CV joint has the harder it is on the boot[period] Eventually all CV joint boots fail due to age and deterioration[comma] but doing things like installing lifts without dropping the differential will increase how far the boot has to stretch[period] The more stretch the sooner it will split and the sooner you[apostrophe]ll have to replace the boot[period] On the other hand[comma] you could just let the boot split and keep cleaning and greasing the joints a couple times a week and not have to worry about it[period]
