The Cupholder Mod- almost done!

Guys,

Whoa boy, lotsa cutting and repositioning.

Right now, I have the 99 center console cupholders installed in my 98! I spent the greater part of this weekend measuring, cutting, etc to get this to work. The pic is a little blurry:

99 center console retrofitted into my 98

Now its not as bad as it might read above, but there is a bit of stuff you need to do to get this to work. Things I have learned so far:

- You need to cut down the 99 console to fit.
- You need to cut down some of the black plastic "innards" of the 99 console
- You better have a coping saw and a dremel
- You should know how to tap a threaded hole and have the right tools to do so
- You need to reposition the rear window switch and the RS3000 alarm display (if you have it)
- Meausure twice, cut once

I have not put all the parts back into the center console (rear ashtray, rear cupholder) and I haven't put the lid on, but let me tell you, it is a sight for sore eyes to have that cup holder back where it should be.

I'm very happy with the progress thus far but there are a few things I will do to make sure I'm 100 satisfied. And yes, I intend to do a write up---and this one will supercede all others on my list.

Bob

Cal:

Try putting a super-size Mickey D's drink in there, let alone two of them! Such a crappy design and I see alot of auto mfgs have this lame design.

Allright Bob...looks like the hard part is over, I knew you'd do it. Now hit 7-11, get the super big gulp, and plunk it down there. You deserve it.

Yeah this mod excites me as well. Jason are you going to be doing this one to your rig? Hey bob whenever you produce a writeup could you provide a price list or estimated prices at least, so I knew what I would be in for if I were to tackle this one. m That would be sweet.

Guys,

Yes, don't worry about the write up and I'll provide *list* price based on the parts sheet that I have since internet retail prices will vary.

I'm going to try to finish this up and have a write up by next monday.

I had the pleasure of putting my coffee in the cupholder this morning. You should have seen the grin on my face and I hit a small pothole and no coffee came splashing out.
