cold engine troubles

Hey all,

Since the weather has recently chilled out a bit I'm having trouble when the engine is cold. The engine starts fine but if I put it in gear (automatic) the RPM goes right down and it stalls. If I let it warm up all the way it is ok all day.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestion on where to start troubleshooting?

Thanks,

Warren

Maybe in need of a tune up? I'm by no means an expert but thats where I would start.

tune - up

Thanks man. I would think that too if I hadn't just had it tuned up a couple of months ago. The mech. said he didn't have to do anything to it. Plugs were clean, it ran well etc...

My first thought was the cold-start injector but since it starts ok I'm not sure that's it. Could it be a "too-lean" mixture since it only stalls when put in gear and cold?

Regards,

Warren

I dunno maybe check your pcv valve? If I remember right those have something to do with idle.. I know on my mustang all I had to do is pull it out and shake it and if it made a rattling sound it was alright but I still replaced it... Now don't take this as the bible, cause I by no means am a mechanic, just offerin advise to what I would do.

I would have the engine coolant temp sensor (for the computer) checked or changed.

coolant temp sensor

Thanks Yoda,

I'll check that out for sure. Any chance it's ignition coil related as well? FSM makes mention of it...
