Cleaned engine, now it idles badly

Happened to me when I first got the truck and had it detailed. The idiots (not saying you did the same) blasted the motor w/ water. Water got into the spark plug area and the truck had very similar symptoms to you (e.g., stumbling, smelling, etc.). Brought it back to the detail shop and they kept saying the water would dry up. They even tried blowing compressed air into the spark plug area to help dry the water.
Well after a few days of this crap and finally a CEL, I brought it to my buddy. He pulled the plugs and replaced all of them as they were corroded from the water. It's run great since. Maybe this is all you have to do w/ some new wires as it looks like this hasn't ever been done.

Got the codes read at an auto zone.. it came back clean. Tomorrow I'm gonna replace the wires and plugs and fuel filter. I drove it to work and back today and it ran like a champ.. no stumbling or struggling..
I keep getting curiouser and curiouser..

Check for water incursion in critical sensor connectors. Like pull each connector off and ensure it's dry with compressed or canned-air. Then put some contact cleaner on and re-insert. I would make sure to hit: Throttle Position (TPS), Mass Air (MAF), each of the coil pack connectors and cam position at minimum.
This is a bit of a long-shot since there were no codes bubbled up - but it's an easy thing to double check. Very common problem on Audi V8's (I know German vs. Japanese...) I've been advised by Toyota certified folks in Europe to simply let the engine be dirty. Clean the compartment with water, sponges/brushes whatever but let the engine do it's thing.
Best of luck, I hope you find it.
