changing light in headlight on 1st gen

hey all i need to change my bulb in my 1st gen, i took it out and it looked to be soldered to 3 little bent rods. so how do i go about putting one back it?

also before i took it out, i would turn on my lights and have to knock on that one to get it to come on. is that the wiring or the bulb itself?

thanks all

there shouldnt be anything soldered to your headlights, they should just unplug, im guessing somebody cut the plug off and soldered the wires directly to the tabs on the back of the light, right? if thats the case i'd be searching for a new plug at a junkyard or somthin.

also unless you have modified something, you should have sealed beam headlights.....

you have to change the whole thing, those type are a sealed unit and the bulb itself cant be replaced alone

Ditto what Joe says.
Go to your local auto supply shop and browse through their Chilton's or Hayne's catalogs. The information you need will be in there.

They're sealed. When I bought my truck it had the old school incandescent dim bulbs, simply upgrading to regular cheapo halogens was a huge improvement. $10 each.

You can also upgrade the housings to an H4 halogen version Swap out the sealed beams for 6054/H4 housings and then you can just change the bulb in the future. And you get more light to boot.

ah hah. Search method does wonders. I was just going to ask about the brighter headlights. Mine is out and I figure if I'm going to have to get a new one I might as well get brighter ones. Ok I found out I already have the upgraded hella lights and I just need to replace the bulbs. I'm looking for the upgraded lights. almost the blue/white bulbs I believe..???
