just remember dont use too much of the second phase engine detailer if you plan on going offroad soon, cause dirt will stick in every little place, kinda works like some of those tire shine products that make your tires really shine and black

Looking good!

I love that stuff and use it on mine as well. Be sure to cover all electrical parts and hose with plastic grocery bags:

The package comes with 2 cans , first can is Super concentrated Engine Cleaner and Prep ,the second can Is Engine Detailer.

1.Warm engine (not hot)
2.Cover distributor, all electronic components, carburetor and air intake components.
3.spray cd-2 engine cleaner and prep liberally on engine and engine compartments. Remove any over spray on painted surface with a wet cloth.
4.Allow 10 minutes soak time, thin rinse with water (garden hose or pressure washer)
5.When complete, remove all covers and replace any removed parts. Start engine and allow to idle for 15 minutes to assure complete drying. Towel off trapped water or extremely wet surfaces.

Now on to the second can engine detailer

Now cover shield fan belts, drive belts, distributer, air intake and windshield from direct application of cd-2 engine detailer. Cover driveway beneath engine compartment to prevent staining of cement or asphalt (i did it in the grass heheeh) Now spray engine detailer liberally on all engine compartment surfaces, including firewall, wheel wells, radiator, engine block, and/or all metal, plastic or rubber surfaces. Avoid spraying product directly into internal components or the alternator or wiring harness.Treated surfaces will look extremely wet after spraying, Leave hood open for 20 minutes to allow product to penetrate and solvents to evaporate. DO NOT WIPE. Uncover protected components. un engine for a few minutes with hood up to quik dry resin on engine. Normal driving for 20 minutes will set the engine detailer resins and form a smooth uniform coating. Lightly wipe extremely wet surfaces if necessary.

your done!

CD2 rocks!! I love that stuff. Now I just have to figure out how to keep water off of my HID ballasts when I want to clean under the hood.

Big John and Jason:

When you say "electrical components", do you mean the fuse boxes? I posted this question in the maintenance section---should have posted it here instead!

I got some answers but I'm a bit confused again. Jason, when you say cover up "the hose", which hose are you talking about? Or all the hoses?

Big John: carburetor? I thought our 4runners are fuel injected?

Jason, bust out the photoshop and start drawing arrors!

Secure all electrical components in the under the hood (i.e. fuse box, wiring harnesses, charcoal canister, belts, alternator etc.)

This is a great site demonstrating the plastic bag theory:

This guy did a nice job.

Read my post above and CLICK the link. If you don't cover, you could ruin some very expensive components!

Jason,

Thanks Jason. I checked it out and now the visual helped me figure out exactly what to do.

I use CD2 also. Works great. I get mine at Target for $5.99

Here's a pic of my engine after CD-2:

Our local place on base here actually had the stuff when I swung in to grab some oil today. I was quite surprised. I went ahead and picked some up. Will give it a try next time I wash.
