Bulbs - again

Anyone use the Phillips BlueVision bulbs in a 9003 application? I can't decide on Bluevisions, Vision Plus, or Sylvania Silverstar. I seem to recall that PFDAXE recommended Phillips. I need good lighting for mountain roads, fog, snow and rain.

Any insight will be much appreciated.

Now, time for a

Mg,

I have the Philips Blue visions. I can sya that they are moderately better than the PIAA Superwhites that i used to have.

They are not the best in rain or fog but they are better than the pIAAs which were terrible in the rain/fog.

The stock bulbs, while expensive, do a much better job in the fog/rain.

Did you mean to say the "stock bulbs, while inexpensive?" I'm assuming you are refering to the stock Toyota bulbs?

Also, do the bluevisions look blue or are they white like PIAA? I just lost a piaa bulb and am looking for alternatives.

Thanks again,
Graham

MG,

The stock bulbs are ridiculously expensive. Grab a seat, grab the phone, and then call your Toyota OEM parts counter.

The Bluevisions give off a slight blue tint. Not really that bad to the point where I look like a ricer. I bought mine from some company in England....i forget the name already. They also threw in the corner bulbs which was a nice surprise. And the price was very comparable to other bulbs that I could've bought here in the USA and yes, they had EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE---unlike a recent retailer who came on this board and made themselves look stupid.

Bob:

I think you were refering to www.powerbulbs.com out of England. They are a world known company and have a good reputation.

I would stay away from the "blue" vision or any bulb with blue tint for that matter. Although bulbs with blue tint "appear" to be brighter when looking at them. They are actually dimmer on the road(usable light). Most "blue" bulbs are a selling gimmick. The 2 best on the market are the Osram Silverstars and the Philips Vision Plus. Well...actually. The brightest and best performance bulb right now is the Philips Rallye bulbs. But...they only have a 100 hour rated use. They would be good for off-road or a high beam set-up.

I wanted the Philips Vision Plus... The only problem is that the current exchange rate is crap and you will probably do better getting the Silver Stars from Autozone (who oddly enough is the cheapest place, even doing a search of the Internet.)

Woohoo Im gettin Vision Plus's I guess. They sound like a winner over my craptory aka factory bulbs. I was debating yesterday and was like $7 shy to get Silver Stars in which I thought looked cool. Oh and Bob I know who you mean but uh I have an aggreement with Moderators not to uh talk about that company anymore because I was uh mean to that company and a thread was ripped into pieces due to a war we had. I still feel stupid for playing that guys games but it was fun.

Everytime I go to Autozone or Wallyworld I find that they only carry the SilverStars in 9004, 9005, and 9006 or 9007's but never the 9003's. Unless they arent' putting them on the pegs.

keisur:

I'm sure you already know this...

But are you looking for the package to say "9003"?

Most will say "H4" (same bulb)

yeah, I knew that (9003/H4) but it must just be here in Houston where they only carry in store the ones I mentioned before. I just don't wanna order them, I usually don't think about it unless I happen to be in a store and see the silverstars, If I found the 9003/H4 I would pick them up but when I went to ask the autozone foreign owner he cut me off mid sentence and told me "No, we don't keep anything in the back, if it's not on the peg, it's not here!" "Peckerhed" I thought to myself and left. Oh yea, I usually also check to make sure it looks like a 9003/H4 before I buy them. just running the run of the mill sylvanias right not ($9) a set, the LightForce lights have got me wanting my headlights alot brighter now

pfdaxe,

ahhh stupid me... I meant the Philips Premium.

Tacoma Dude,
Thanks, I'll try there... I can get them local for $19. Ebay may be better, but then there is shipping.

My local shop have them for about $19 a piece too but I checked out ebay and found a 2 bulb package that came with a Nascar so I went for it. Shipping didn't hurt me too much. All together I still ended up $10 ahead.
