Brush Guard

Looking to maybe get the big brush guard thing for the front of my Yota, no real reason why.
Question is, how much do they usually go for, found one, used, good condition for $150. And any weight issues? I have heard that these things are kinda beefy and weigh on the suspension.

they arent too heavy. most people here are anti-brush guard because they dont really offer any protection.. you can push shopping carts around in a parking lot but for any higher speed collision it will end up doing more damage than you would have had without it.

made sure its a name brand and doesnt have much rust. 150 isnt a bad price as these things start out at like 600 or something like that.

i got mine on CL for $75. its pretty much just useful as a light mount.

From what I've heard they are actually pretty light. However, as mentioned before, they might actually do more damage in an accident than good. Also, $150 seems fair as long as it's in a reasonable condition.

honestly i wouldnt do it if you have no particular reason behind it. many people around here do it on their blazers, f150.... etc and it looks foolish. i did once see a yota driving around here that had a pretty nice brush guard and it was just for looks. Full bumper customize is a different story and i will be doing just that sometime next year. I'd suggest you to save the money and put it into better use. but that's your choice.

Screw it, buy one. They look cool. My cousin had one like it on her xterra, only thing that kept it from getting totalled. (*spelling)....and You never know when You might need to push a shopping cart out of the way either!

I'm about to buy one next week. I don't off-road enough to make a $1,400 one worth it.

Good luck!

Thank you guys for the info, I think I may pick it up anyways, I have been on some sights, and looked at some 2000 White and Silver Limiteds and I kinda like the look. Plus, hey, I can always just take it off. But it is powder coated painted black. Real good condition, only thing is there is no nuts and bolts that go with it, so I will have to work that myself.

i have one.. its kinda nice for pushin stuff like shopping carts.. giving a manual truck a push start.. they are really light mine can be lifted with a hand.. unless your going with a ranch hand they are not beefy at all.. if you try to recover with it it WILL be torn off your vehicle

ehhh say what you want about the brush guards but my WAAG Saved my last truck from damage twice now. One time i hit a deer going about 25-30 mph...ever so slightly bent the brush guard. No damage to truck. Second time a stump popped out of nowhere on the the trail. The lower bar of the brush guard took a good hit and bent in pretty good. But it did save my radiator and valance.

I would rather have a full custom bumper but the Brushguard was free and its doing its job for now.
