It's been awhile since I have posted.
To tell the truth, I've been spending to much time on the new motorcycle...
Anyway, I hope everyone is still wheelin....

I broke the stock swaybar connect at Bald Mt. Must have been when I droped 3 feet in the middle of the night. Yes, it was on purpose. What do you guys think I should do?

Should I replace stock?

Should I buy custom swaybar disconnects?

Should I just remove the swaybar?

I have a set of aftermarket swaybar discos. They are a PITA to install the pins after use, so I simply removed the whole damn swaybar since the ride was not much worse than with the bar. Offroad manners makes it worthwhile.

I bought lars custom discos and I'm pretty satisfied with those. Taking them off was pretty easy, but putting them back on I had to have somebody pull the swaybar up because it was too low. Still, I'd reccommend them.

When you remove the sway bars, which one is more bennificial. I would imagine the rears give a bigger advantage since the ifs is the big limitation in the front right? Also, wouldn't it make more of a difference in on road manners if you take the front off since that is where all the weight is? Or do you guys just take them both off?

Actually some tests have been done and it's the general consensus that disconnecting the front swaybar helps you a lot, and disconnecting the rear doesn't really help you much.

Also you wouldn't want to pull out the swaybar if you plan on driving in the city or on regular roads, bodyroll will be a huge problem.

 

I can't say I know of any other 3rd Gen owners who drive without the front sway bar connected. I have for probably a little over 2 months now by virtue of troubleshooting a clunking type noise. My bar was hitting something as having it disconnected was noise free. I had replaced one bushing and the other is fine. At any rate, there is quite a bit more body roll on cornering. Taking it down mountain grades and such, you have to definitely be slowed down more. My ride also softened up considerably. It's definitely manageable though.

I have Lars' discos as well, but haven't used them. I've tried them out in the driveway and have found them real tough to disconnect from the bar. I currently have my sway bar on, but have removed the disconnects. I'll probably try them out again at some point. I just wish they'd slide right off. I'm probably doing something wrong though.
