From: Edmond,
Back Bumper Dent

I was messing around on some old trails behind my friend's house and went down a ravine, bottomed out and bent the rear bumper. It pulled away from the body on the right side. I got an estimate for $900. Any other ideas on how to deal with it??? I'll try to get a pic of it posted.

Thanks,

Matt

A few weeks ago my wife backed our 4Runner into a pole. Bent the bumper bracket, put a dent in the tailgate (but not the bumper itself) and pushed one side towards the rear tire. Ended up taking off the whole bumper, having it welded together and then welded to the frame via some steel channel . A local welding shop did this work for about $250. It's not quite as good as new but seems a lot more solid than before.

Other than that, have you tried a real big hammer? Good luck.

$900
Take the insurance money and look up a local fabber and have him whip up one of these like Mike H has on his rig.

Same bumper, only he added the tire carrier in the 2nd URL.

That is the type I am going to have fabbed up for me.

I got pricing on that sweet bumper which Mike fabbed up. And it was expensive! $1900 at one local shop and $1200 at another.

I'm waiting for Corey to have Jeff @ Badland Bumpers make him one, and then maybe we can get a group buy?

Good golly miss molly
I think Jeff can dupe that for under $600, and closer to $500, perhaps less.

The first one would be more as he has not made that type.
I'd get it powder coated too.

Corey,

Now that is a SWEEEEEET BUMMMMMPPPPEEEERRRRR! I think I am in love....J/K. But I sure do like the bumper! I like the idea of group discount. I am definitely in if people want to do that! If you need any help or anything just let me know.

I forgot, do you think you would get the bumper made up of tubing or not? Reason I am asking is because, I am looking to have air tanks but why not turn a bumper/sliderz into tank(z)....
just a thought!

It would be a plate bumper.
I think that is the style of Mike's also.

Oh, everything I have read about turning sliderz or bumpers into tanks is bad.
Something about the ends blowing and and becoming projectiles, especaily in a fender bender.

Thanks for the info Corey. I have never hear that! But it makes really good sense. So I guess I need to just buy a power tank or something like it!
