Auto Shifter Adjustment

Auto Shifter Adjustment
I just installed a 2" RB body lift yesterday, and my automatic transmission shifter lever needs to be adjusted, it still goes into gear but is a little off. I've seen the thread somewhere on here before on how to adjust it, but I've have no luck searching. Anyone know of the website or thread?

Which way should I adjust it? It goes into park, reverse and nuetral fine, but my problem is in drive, its real sloppy and will pop into 2nd or nuetral with a slight tap. I took a look at the bracket and right now its adjusted dead center.

You don't need to worry about which way, just get the tranny in park, loosen the nut, and then lock the shifter into park. That will automaticly have the adjustment correct so all you need to do is tighten the nut after that. At least that's all I had to do.

Hahaha...dude I am so lost...My problem isn't in park, its going into drive, it bumps back and forth between nuetral and 2nd gear. The nut is dead center right now. Should I just mess with it till it shifts smoothly?

Well, I didn't really say that. I meant you should loosen the nut and then get in the truck and move or jiggle the shifter handle to make sure its completely in place. Once the shifter is completely in place in park it should also be right though the whole range of motion too, unless you have the linkage hitting on something.

Fixed it!
I went outside and took a look at the shifter linkage because this problem has been driving me crazy, had to grab my maglite, but I loosened the nut and it slid foward about a 1/4", shifts nice and smooth now. Thanks for your help Mt Goat!

Sorry its late, but, I had the same problem...
All I did was loosen the nut, jiggle the linkages around a little bit, and they both shifted a little bit, then tightened the nut, and it was good. Maybe I got lucky, but, I could tell they were stressing to get into the correct position. I did this in park by the way (by the shifter inside)

I took about 2 weeks for it to show up at my door. I'm also on the complete opposite side of the country...soooo I wasn't to worried about it.
