Remove and replace shifter handle?
I tried to take off the shifter handle on my 2000 Tacoma after taking out the screws. Never fully got it off so I ended up putting it back together, only to have the shifter no longer working. The thumb button goes down but isn't engaging the tranny. Stuck in park. Let me know if this is the wrong section to post. Just want to make it work again. Thanks!

Fixed it thank heavens! Found out the O/D switch needs to be popped out of the handle before the handle can be removed. After pulling off the handle I saw that the inner stalk had rotated, preventing the top thumb button from engaging it and working the tranny. When I got it turned around correctly everything was fine. All back together. I hope this helps someone.
