Angry ARGH!!! 3rd gen rear bumper help

Some a-hole put a big dent in my rear bumper.. not sure where or when it happened, but needless to say, no one left a note or anything.
I looked at that part of bumper and it's empty on the inside. I can get to it by hand, but there's no room to swing a hammer or anything back there to push the dent out. It also looks like the corner is separate from the whole bumper assembly. What do you think would be the best way to get this dent out, short of going to a body shop?
Thanks

I had the same dent on the same side in the same place on mine! I took mine to a body shop though because i didnt want the paint to crack when i tried to get it out. One shop told me that they would have to buy that whole part and repaint it. I went to another place and they took it out and painted it for about $150.

My 2nd gen had a dent similar to that when I bought it.
That piece is about $140 from the dealer.

You can remove the bumper and try using a little ballpeen(sp) hammer to get rid of the dent. Do it gently so you don't crack the pain. Hope this helps.

My rear bumper is littered with dents. I dont know what the previous owner did. She must have played bumper cars on campus or something.

Like Corey said, the piece you are looking at is about $150 - $200. I have seen those on ebay before, along with the rear bumper.
Keep your eyes peeled, you may get a screemin deal.

I tried to pound out the dents in the bumper, but it seems to cause more harm then good (protrusions), I finally just gave up.

There are a couple guys that have gone with new rear bumper set-ups. You may be able to get their old parts. Try putting a want ad up...

I had the same ding in mine. I went to my dealer and they hooked me up with a new bumper end for $86. (I get a discount there, but I'd try Jay Marks Toyota for a price comparison) It comes primed, so you either have to paint it yourself (I did) or have it painted by a shop. It comes off pretty easy. Good luck!
