ARB compressor - where to install?

just curious (and need inspiration), where did you install your ARB compressor? pics would be nice too if you could. I've got a mini compressor from ARB and havin a tough time deciding where to put it... what would give the best performance? would outside of the engine bay (i.e. towards the back of the vehicle) be out of the question? - might be because of noise / heat? goin to moab for easter weekend so any info before then would be great...

thanks!

I've seen most people install them under the hood or in the rear cargo area.
The draw back with the cargo area is you'd hear it flicking on and off.

No pics though, sorry.

hmmm.. i'm not too worried about the noise if it's just when it's giving power. it might even be cool, like when you hear turbo or a supercharger whine. does it give off heat that could damage the plastic or anything?

One other thing to consider is if a seal goes out in the locker gear oil can get pushed up the air line and the soleinoid will puke it out the relief valve. So that can be a bit messy for an interior mounting.

so if I go under the hood and install there, what would the best mounting place be? (basically a stock 3.4)

i've got my compact compressor mounted on the passenger side...i think just between the abs module and the airbox. mounted on the wheel well hump. inside the cab...the novelty of compressor noises and blow off will wear off quickly. depends on how many lockers you're plumbing to it. mines only for the front, so it made more sense to mount it as close to the front locker as possible...

i can have some pix of where i mounted it tomorrow...

Passenger fender well. I just made a small mounting plate and actually used 3 existing bolt holes.

I have a Viair mounted pas. side and was able to utilize factory threaded holes for the mounting feet, then wired it to a factory defrost switch.

i ended up mounting it to the drivers side fan shroud. It was an east place to put it w/out having to move anything around or building a mounting plate. So far its held up welland ive had it there for a few years.
