To prevent this from happening again I went to lows and bought some instillation and put it in there its much cheeper than dynomats and still works, its now in all my doors.
CHEA!!! Feels great when you build your own box!!! What kind of insulation did you get at Lowes??

HX2...
Wired to go down to 1 ohm so I get ~250 extra watts per sub(750 each) with the amp.

All of it is just sitting around and that RF amp never even saw power yet.

i forgot what the guy told me it was but when i walked in and he asked me what i needed and i told him what i had built and i needed to insulate it and he gave me something and said that would be the best because it keeps the noise in and stops a lot of the rattling. But now my left side passenger window isn't working but i am to lazy to open it up and see what happened.

Put them in the runner just for S&Gs. Box doesnt fit between the fender wells. It is about 40" wide I beleive. But I think it looks awesome there...

Chea, I have the 15s hx2... LOOOOOVE them!!! I am using 1 t1000 for now and have them wired at 2 ohms until I can get another amp... Still loud as hell tho!!! I remember the 1st system I had was 2 15" punch series subs, 2 500 watts punch amps, 2 8" punch subs... It all was sitting in my CLOSET because I didn't have a vehicle!!! Ended up selling it all for a down payment on a 1994 chevy s10 and ended up getting in a wreck i think 1 week later...

You guys are taking the utility out of SUV. Ah well, I'd like to put a small box back there. Nothing big. Has anyone noticed that the stock HU sounds great through radio but sucks playing CD's?

I have a Rockford fosgate mono amplifier which uses 60 amps.
I plan to install a 2 channel amp to power my rear speakers, im only have the stock alternator. is it possible to add another 60 amp amplifier without any effects like flashing headlights, stalling or any other harm.

this thread is still survive!?! wow I have completely forgotten about this.

I put my system in my honda crx a while ago. I don't like the bass responses inside of the crx. I thought it was gonna be louder in my crx cause of smaller cabin but boy I was wrong! It sounds much louder in the 4Runner.

nice.

not to sound like a n00b, but why is polyester stuffing sometimes used in sub enclosures?

I run a mono Audiobahn 8000T 1600w amp, hooked up to a 12" JL Audio 4Ω sub and a 12" Rockford Fosgate Punch P2 series 2Ω sub, wired in parallel. While its not completely ridiculous, it sounds amazing and can be decently obnoxious when need be.

and to the guy with the four 15's, nice work bro

You will be fine. And that would be 60 watts not amps. You dont need to worry about the alternator till about 3000watts or 1200-1300rms watts. There are other things you can do like adding a capacitor or doing the big 3 mod. Though I doubt you would need either of those.

If you happen to dim at all do the big 3 mod first it willmost likley solve the problem.

The stuffing is for sealed boxes. It slows down the moving air in the box and makes the sub "think" its in a slightly larger box.

nice. so since I have a sealed box, I could stuff it per say and get a little more bass/fuller sound?

by the way, including a pioneer head unit, all wires and connections, the two original subs, the rockford fosgate, amp, and box, I have a grand total of $270 bucks in my system... can't be that...

I would say you might notice a small difference. Wheather its worth it is debateable but it is cheap and easy to try. My mom has a bunch of sewing/girly-crafting-crap laying around and I took some quilt stuffing and ripped it apart for mine. It was free, but I've never heard my system without it so I can't tell you if it was worth the effort. lol

Ive got about 200 in my 82's system. Kenwood HU, POS front and rear speakers. POS amp. POS free subs. POS wood for box. And I'll tell you what, it sounds like a POS system HAHA! But much better than the 2 4''s from the factory. I can hear it fine with both windows down at 70 with no distortion. Good enough for a POS truck.
