That plug looks like severe detonation ocurred, and I mean severe.

The oil leak looks like the output shaft seal. I think.

Thats what i thought about the tcase. But to clairify on the spark plug that is a build up on it. How would detonation cause that?

 

Carbon? Hmmm, well I thought it looked melted. Question: Was it only one plug, or all 4?

 

It was only one and it was in the 4 spot. the reason i checked them was cause i was running real bad and like it was missing. First i checked dist. cap and rotor, they were a little burnt but dry. then i checked the wire's and they were fine then air filter (kn) got a cleaner and new plugs and cleaned the filter and puled out the plugs 1 was burnt, 2 was about the same 3 was worse and 4 holy crap Batman.

 

So in how many miles did this happen to #4?

 

i would say that you are running your 4th too lean which means it is running too hott and melting the plug, clean your injectors or replace your plug wires for starters

10k miles Id say. ran threw some injector cleaner threw it about a month ago. Will try to change wires. thanks

Spark1 ... detonation
Spark2 ... detonation + oil
T/C ... broken seal

check distributor timing and verify the vacuum advance is working properly
consider after market "ping" meter to see when detonation is occuring
replace "pain in the butt" T/C seals

 

Silly question,but what did the plug smell like? I hate to say it but that to me looks like coolant sludge like a small HG leak.

 

No idea on the plugs, as for the t-case are you sure it's oil leaking. I get the same pattern from grease coming out of the front u-joint on the driveshaft.

 

I get that same pattern from ujoint grease slinging too, but not that much and not so wet. It's even wet on the heat shield nearby. Looks like the output shaft is leaking and it slings off the oil. The plug looks like coolant contamination to me too. #4 is notorious for a leaky valve guide and fouling the #4 plug, and also famous for working loose. But that doesn't look like oil fouling and it doesn't look to me like detonation either.

 

That's what I thought also when I first looked at it. Check your oil and antifreeze for mixing.

 

Looks lash fouled to me. It's worth a compression check to check you head gasket/ ring condition.

 

The plugs are nasty I would do the compression test like everyone else says.

Ok the T-case fisrt pull your shifter boot and check the bolts on the top of your t-case shift lever they maybe loose causing the gear oil to spray out from the top.

 

Know it is not the Valve guide the head was just redone, but the rings is almost a sure thing when replacing the head pistons were looser than i would have liked them, gotta get a compression guage.....huh!

After you check the compression, squirt a little oil into the cylinder and check again. Just because the head was re-done does not mean they did'nt make a mistake. If you inject the oil and the compression goes up, its your rings or cylinders. If the compression does not improve with the oil, have that head looked at. I would also drain your oil look and for coolant.
I think you have more than one problem for the plugs to look like that.
