American International dash kit model #

hi there,

I went to American International website last week, and according to their 03 application guide, the 03 4runner sr5 uses the kit TOY-K975, so I ordered it, and got it today. However, I can't seem to get it to fit in my dash. So I went back to their website today, and now that they've updated their application guide with N/A on the sport edition. The sport edition inform wasn't there last week, and I know someone on here that has a sport edition and used an AI dash kit with his alpine. I am wondering if the TOY-K975 listing was a mistake or maybe I am doing something wrong. I have the non-JBL system, and the factory unit in my truck is made by Fujitsu-ten, Eclipse, no wonder it doesn't sound too bad.

thanks,
rich

I will defnitely call them up tomorrow morning. Good thing that supposingly metra came out with a dash kit for 03 too. The only thing is that the metra kit for 4runner is also the same kit for the toyota tundra and sequoia. My Dash kit from AI can also be used on toyota 02 celica/echo/mr2/rav4/highlander, but not 03 tundra nor sequoia. Something is definitely messed up.

i have the american international kit. but when i got mine back in dec/jan they didn't have one that was ready so they had to make one for me but that part number does sound familiar. just call them up and say that the one you got doesn't fit.

as for model grade diffs, there are none. the sr5/sport/ltd are all the same.

the link is here: http://www.americaninternational.net...ppguide-v1.pdf

I've left a msg on their voice mail, as I can't seem to get a live person there. anyway, I also placed an order for the Metra kit with my local dealer for $25, and he should and better have it tomorrow, since he charged me shipping for the kit from NY. I guess I can get the k975 kit to fit if I drill a fit holes here and there and use the factory backet with it, but what's the point of buying a kit if I have to fool around with it to get it to fit. Plus the kit doesn't really look that good with the gaps around the headunit, hopefully the metra will be better. take my advise, stay away from American International.

Actually I think the American International looks cool Don't know about the gaps you're talking about though..

I recommended the am int'l kit to another member "Live4swell" and he installed it in his 03 as well...

http://www.geocities.com/live4swell/stereo

the pix should show how clean it comes out

i tried to look for my pix here but i can't find it using the search (sorrY).

i think am int'l just sent ya the wrong one or something...

good luck

just got a call from a person named Ralph, and he told me that the sport and limited edition have a different layout than SR5, therefore, the kit won't fit in my sport edition truck. I even tried to tell him to goto the live4swell website, but he said he can't load the page, etc. I didn't like his attitude at all, he sounded very arrogant, and gave me many many reasons why my kit doesn't work, but without offer me any solutions, he said the kit that I got might be old stock, therefore it might not have the extra pieces needed to work with my dash, etc. Did he try to offer any help? no, he made me feel like it's my problem that I bought the kit!? I could understand if I bought a competitor's kit, and now try to get help from AI, but I bought their kit, it's their problem. anyway, I guess I am done with American International. Use them at your own risk.
