air flow to radiator

As you can see in the pic, I've currently got a set of Hella 4000s on my front bumper. I am considering taking a set of the Hella 500 fogs from my roof rack and moving them to the bumper. If I were to do this, I would put the 500s where the 4000s are now, and move the 4000s to the middle of the bumper, side by side. That would effectively put lights across the entire width of my grille. Would this have any significant impact on air flow to the radiator? I've got a tranny cooler to help, but I do a fair amount of towing in the summer, and I don't want to risk overheating becuase of a set of lights.

Thoughts???

Yes, it would decrease airflow to your radiator. Would it be enough to negatively effect something? That's hard to say. You mentioned that you tow in the summer - that would be my first inclination not to do this.

I figured that since the lights were round, there would be able to find a way around them into the radiator. Like I said, I also have a tranny cooler to help out. Maybe this is reason enough to setup an aux gauge for tranny temp.

They aren't aimed or wired yet - I'm still waiting on some gear for the wiring (distribution blocks mainly). Here are the pics...

Is there a grille behind there?

Um, sort of. The chrome outer edge is there, but the middle is hollow. The 4000s are too deep for an OEM grille, and I don't feel like monkeying around with gutter guard right now.

The tranny cooler won't help if air can't get to it.

I wouldn't do anything to mine that might decrease the airflow...

Maybe you could go another route on the fog lights...smaller and lower.

The tranny cooler is located much lower on the vehicle, just off the the passenger side of the liscense plate. Air flow to the cooler should be fine.
