First of all some of you may remember me from about 6 months ago when I had my 1996 4runner 2wd. I totaled that truck in a rearend colition with a car that had no brake lights. Now finally i got what i really wanted a 1999 4runner Sr5 4wd ill try and post some pics soon.

Anyways, I know there are alot of threads out there about third gen suspention but none seem to answer my question. I am running 285/75/R16 BFG tires on stock suspention right now (the running boards are off so no rubbing) I would like to fit 35 inch tires and have a wide stance. I was thinking of doing the sway-a-way race runner suspention in front with downey coils in back and having a 3 inch body lift. I would also use 1.5 wheel spacers. Is anyone running this setup and how do they like it or is there a better or more cost effective setup out there. Let me know any info you have to offer about 3rd gen suspetion, all help is appreciated.

 

Cost effective: Revtek 3" suspension lift and 3" body lift.

Definetly somethign I wouldnt do... but, you could run 35s. Your most likely going to wan to re-gear as well. 35's will be slow from the get-go .

You could also just do a 6" suspension lift...trailmaster, fabtech and tuff country make drop braket lifts . but are $1500

 

I have never seen any trailmaster,tuff country etc. lifts for 3rd gens. Do you have a link. How does a drop bracket lift work

 

Those kits will only work for the front, as they are designed for the Tacoma. The Tacoma has leafs in the rear so you would have to come up with some sort of lift for the rear.

 

Anyone else have any sugestions

 

Well, just to let you know... I am doing a Trailmaster install on my 3rd gen tomorrow actually. I'll have more pictures, but, here is my current thread about it now.

I'll be doing a leaf spring swap in the next month or two, but, until then I'll be using OME rear coils + 2" cornfed spacers.

 

to fit 35's and still be able to stuff them in the wheel well you have to run 16x8 rims with stock backspacing.



If it's your daily driver, stay away from wheel spacers

 

Bruce- it is my daily.. what are the negitive effects of the spacer?

SC4runner- That setup sound nice, let me know how it turns out, if it works good maybe you could give me some guideance on how to put that on my truck

I've got an OME lift, 2" roger brown bl kit, wheel spacers from marlin crawler and it's my DD driver.... haven't had any probs. with my 35's yet-
