96 4Runner - possible tranny problem?

The subject:
96 4Runner, 113K miles.
TRD Headers, exhaust, etc. Ran w/ Supercharger for ~30K miles before it was removed. Rear end has a true-trac limited slip.

Tranny has the Level-10 kit installed and did when the S/C was on the truck. Tranny is running regular dyno oil and hasn't been changed in about 15K miles. A TRD cooler has been on the truck for ~50K miles. Last time I checked the fluid, it was crystal clear.

Lately I've been noticing what I can only describe as a "growling" sound coming from underneath the truck. It is accompanied by a bit of a vibration on the floor board. The vibration is rare under acceleration, somewhat consistent when at above 35mph, and is worse at coast. Shifting the tranny into neutral eliminates the howling/growling. Shifting seems fine overall.

My initial thought was wheel bearing, but has changed to transmission based on this thread, which is unnerving since I w/o garage right now. Other thought is rear end; my 94 had a similar sound under coast that turned out to be chipped ring/pinion gears.

Thoughts? Ideas?
