88 4runner tranny swap???

Hi guys, first post. I found a real nice 88 4runner that I am thinking about buying. No rust, great condition, etc. The only problem is that I need an auto and its a manual. How hard would it be to swap in an auto and what would be the best one? Any engine mods? Any advise is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
BC

Wouldnt it be easier to learn how to drive a stick? Auto's and older Toy motors is not a good combination. it sucks the life out of the motor.

Unfortunately, my left knee got really fubared on my motorcycle last year and the ease of the auto is better for now. I know it will suck some life but maybe some motor mods to offset the auto...

Thanks,

Umm depends on what motor you are transfering it too. Is it a 3.0 or the 22re. Well i take that back it will be equally as difficult for both motors but just make sure its a tranny that is in the year range of your 4Runner, but its a tranny transfer so its not going to be an easy task. If you could find an 88 4Runner auto tranny that would be the best fit becasue it would most likely bolt right up.
