7MGTE Swap
I've been doing some researching on the 7MGTE Swap and found some pretty good info. There's EngineWholesalers.com that have a 7MGE for about $600 and 7MGTE for $1000. Besides the motor what else would have to be replaced in an 86 2WD Pickup (22RE, 5 speed). I beleive the transmission is a W56. Would you have to replace the exhaust, bell housing, ECU, wiring harness, and radiator? They say they give you the distributor. Would I have to replace the alternator? What about A/C? Sounds like I'd probably be better off just buying an old Supra.

Scratch that about EngineWholesalers.com. Looks like JMDSource.com has it for $750. Plus it includes ECU, transmission, and wire harness. Any opinions?

There is a guy here in asheville that had a POS truck... i mean... horrible paint, not to mention its condition but also the color (mix between puke yellow and doodoo brown) anyway... he had the older model supra turbo engine in it and he wooped my buddys chipped 02 S4. THAT was a suprise! He said he was out the door $3,500 and did all the work him self... sounds like a good deal to me
edit:that included the truck...

Someone on here has a page that talks about everything they did for the swap...it sounded pretty labor intensive. If you know what you're doing in terms of fabrication and such it'd be awesome, so good luck if you do it...

supra engine is a good swap candidate. my only concern would be the oilpan contacting with your IFS, but it might not since 2wd trucks have a mid sump pan...
the engine should bolt to your mounts with 5MGE mounts IIRC(may have to drill the holes out a little bigger on the mount). it'll bolt to your truck's tranny with the supra bellhousing but why bother? supras had the W58 or R154 which are both stronger and since you have a 2wd they will probably bolt right in

just skip all the in-between and get a 3rd gen 4x4. You'll be back anyway if you get into import tuning. Just start now.
