I really think this is a dumb question but I didn't want to make the purchase before I know if they'll fit or not. My tires have about 6 months to a year left on them and I want to make a wheel change when that happens. I just want to know if 4th gen wheels from the newer 4runner will fit my 1999 4Runner SR5 2WD. Its just a thought since they're less expensive than getting Volk TE37s. Any input would be great, thanks.

 

I'm no expert on the 3/4gens but from what I've seen the bolt pattern looks the same the only problem you might have is with the offset but again it looks the same to me. If you don't get any responces ask the service guys at the stealer they would know. Just tell them you like the look of the one over the other and want to change. That should hold any objections about warrenty bs. How about it guys any body got any ideas? Aviator

 

i wouldn't worry about it too much, most Toyota trucks have the six bolt pattern and will interchange with each other. Like Aviator mentioned, the backspacing could cause issues, but usually not enough to really give you problems, but keep an eye out.

 

they'll fit but yoty's have many diff backspacing.may have diff nuts too.

i have the 02 tundra 16" wheels on mine, and all i had to do was cut out a hole in the center cap for the grease cap, looks and rides ok to me

 

I have an '02 and bought 5 of the '03 steel wheels and they had too much backspacing/offset and hit the upper ball joints. Still sitting in my garage if
if anyone wants them. I forgot the exact specs, but something like an extra 1/2" of offset on the '03s.

 

So technically, youre saying they didnt fit then right? Without modifcation?

 

Find out what you got (backspacing/offset) and compare it to what you want. If the person/company you are buying the rims from won't let you do a quick test fit or can money-back guarantee they will fit, buy them from someone who will. Plenty of people will do a little customer service to make their money. My pennies...

 

Well I was planning on getting the set off ebay so there isn't a guarantee there.

 

Usually on the wheel description, the (eBay) seller will have what models/year the wheels will fit. Do a search for that type wheel and read the descriptions to see. Once you confirm it a time or two, you will know even if the ones you bid on does not say.

 

Better yet, go to one of the commercial sites that sell wheels, they should have the specs listed so you can compare.
