4runner rear control arm bushings
forgive me if this has been asked before... i searched and didn't find much...
has anybody ever replaced rear control arm bushings on their 3rd gen 4runner? my 97 LTD upper (shorter) doggy bones have the bushings pushed to one side and the arm is about to contact the frame as a result. i guess torque and time just pushed it over. anybody know if there are any aftermarket bushings available? i know toyota does not make them for the uppers. they require you to replace the arm.
i know 98+ have replacable lower rear control arm bushings, but they do not list them for the 97. does anybody know if they fit?

Please note that there were changes in the lower control arms in the 2nd half of 1996, then in the 2nd half of 1997.
For 1996 to mid 1997, the bushings of the rear lower control arms are captive to the rear control arms. from mid 1997 to 2001, the bushings for the rear lower control arms are replaceable.
the bushings for the rear upper control arms are captive to the control arm.

Thanks for the info regarding captive bushings. I have to replace the lower control arm bushings and was going to do the upper at the same time. I guess I better order the whole arm.

Rear Lower Control Arm drama
I JUST had my rear lower control arm bushings replaced after a long (and pricey) road to today. Here's what happenned:
After noticing a fair amount of twitchy swaying on the highway, discovered
that my factory arms had very worn/torn bushings. Decided to do an "upgrade" and look into some beefy aftermarket lower arms. Goals were to eliminate the rear wander and ideally pickup some additional wheel travel/articulation. Considered two options (Total Chaos arms were too pricey):
1) Sonoran Steel's http://www.sonoransteel.com/index.ph...108cf2653afd00
2) ToyTec's http://www.toyteclifts.com/index.php...mart&Itemid=72
Went with ToyTec's mostly because Sonoran's arms just seemed like a beefier stock version (because they use the same stock bushings). Almost immediately noticed that the ToyTec arms seemed to "clunk" over bumps; found this VERY annoying. So annoying that I went ahead and had new bushings pressed into my stock arms and swapped out the ToyTecs for rebuilt stock arms. (bushings are Toyota Part# 48702-35070)
In retrospect, I should have just bought the Sonoran Steel rear lower control arms Day1. Would have saved me much time/money/aggravation. Not sure if anyone else has had the same noisey experience with the ToyTec arms or not... my truck lives 50% of the time offroad... that might be a factor.
For 1999 4Runners, anyone know what options exist for replacing the rear upper control arm bushings? Are just the bushings available? Same part # as the lower bushings? OR, only option is to buy the entire arm? (After my recent lower-arm experience, I'm only going to go with stock bushings)
