For 1" lift, you won't need to use any A/T brackets:

would it make more sense to do a 1" BL and 33"s? (will it rub bad or will some trimming remedy it?) or a BJ spacer up front and either springs/spacers in the rear to level it out?

There is a long list of options on this part of the web page:
http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/ForSale/...it.shtml#FAQ10
Usually 1" body lift alone is not enough to fit 33s, you'll either need to crank up the torsion bars, swap to stiffer bars, or add a ball joint spacer up front and do something in back to level it out. Read the various links on the page above for some ideas.
A lot of it depends on your goals for the lift, your budget and your aversion (or lack thereof) of trimming fenders as well as the exact wheel and tire combo you want to run. For a budget lift, 1" body, cranked t-bars, something for the rear end and trim until it fits. For added suspension travel and a better ride, do the spacers up front. You could always add them later as you see fit.

you are going t oget differtn opinions on this issue, but i would say go as big as possible because it is not going to throw your center of gravity off much more with a 2" than it will with a 1" and most vehicles have differnt manufacturing tolerances meaning that a 1" bl with the same suspension and tire setup on runner A might not rub but on runner B the 2", still rubs.....

my goals are for a DD and some trail rides 1-2x a weekend. obviously id like some good flex but i dont know how good i can actually get with such a tight budget and the amount of lift im lookin at, given a BL wont increase flex at all. thanks for all the input guys, id like as much as i can get.
