3 questions wire fuse an antenna

ok i'm wiring up some off road lights the each draw about 11 or 12amps so iz 12gauge good or should i use 10? an where they split an go to the dif lights is 16 good or should i use 14? should i use an ATC fuse or a ATM? an a 25amp fuse would be good right? the fuse holder that i got says it's good up to 30 amp an it has #12 wire so then if i'm useing a 25amp fuse #12 wire should be plenty right?

another question iz i have a uniden fire / PD scanner most of the fire channels are 46.xxx mhz and with out knowing that i got a CB antenna at raido shack that says it's for 27mhz will that be ok or will a antenna that says it's for 46mhz work a lot better? i didn't open it yet so i can take it back.
TIA
Jeff

match the wire gauge with the fuse holder or it wont make a diff if you go w/a larger gauge. 12 should work fine, as well as 14 to each lamp. a fuse is a fuse, use the correct holder and your fine. i think matching freq to the antenna will improve the range, not a 100% on that.

Try it out and see. Antenna tuning for reception is not anywhere near as critical as for tramsitting.

On the wire size, 12ga. is good for about 10' run at 24 amps, 14ga. about 5', at 12 amps, 16ga. for up tp 5', 14ga. for up to 20'.

You can use the CB ant on the PD scanner....Like 4Crawler said it is not as important on the RCV side as it is on the Xmt side.....When I was back in the states I used one ant for both the CB and the scanner.....the scanner was far enough away in the freq range that it was never once bothered by the CB transmissions.....Having said all that....every shop counter pro in the world will tell you that you have to freq match both the xmt and rcv ants....and if I were on the job right now I would tell you the same thing...but right now I am a computer tech and not a freq mgr....so I can tell you what I know has worked for me and millions of others.......

Look at your AM/FM antenna, one unit covers from 530KHz on the AM side up to 108MHz on the FM side. Maybe does not work perfect, but well enough to get the job done.
