Why does everyone offer 60" and 66". what's the difference?

Measure wheel well to wheel well. Different lengths for different tastes and fender flares.

4 runner sliders should be the same length for 86-95 and 96-02. the WB didnt change enough to warrant a slider thats maybe an inch longer?

Agreed. so why 60" & 66"? downey and trail gear show 58". 4xinnovations lists 66". wab fab has 60 & 66". all pro shows 60". why so many lengths?

I think you pose a valid question.

I would like to hear from those with experience with sliders or vendors to explain their choices in length. That would be helpful to me as well since I'm in the market.

1. Different tastes and how far you want your sliders to go relative to wheel well. I've seen 58", 60" and 66" on 3rd gens with Limited Flares. Like I said, personal preference.

2. Fender flare/mud flaps on SR5s or Limited as opposed to none.

Measure you "space" and picture what will look best, then pick a length.

Not necessarily true.

For example, take an 87 4Runner that has been SASd, the front axle pushed forward and the front firewall tubbed back for larger tires. A 58/60" slider works for this application whereas it would look short IMO on a normal 87. Different lenghts are offered for choices for the consumer based on application, simple as that.

Here's some of my 01, with 4Crawler 63" long sliders. I felt the 66" would be too long with my Bushwacker flares, and the 60" would be too short, so I had them custom made to that length.

Looks like 66" would cover the entire rocker where as the others do not. That would be the one I am going with...

I would agree. Looks like a 65-66" offers full coverage for the average 3rd gen. I'll be looking into those as well
