2wd to 4wd

Ok, im in the market for an 02 tacoma and i don't have too much cash so i was thinking, if im going to SAS this and put dual cases, and im low on money... then why don't i buy a 2wd truck and build it up. SOO how hard is it to convert a 2wd to a 4wd with a solid front axle? I know it has been done, and i know i can save a ton of money just buying a 2wd truck. Inputs please.

P.S. how wide is the elocker rear end, hub to hub, in an 02 taco?

How much can you save by buying 2wd? Imo it wouldn't be worth it to convert.

when you say your changing out all this other stuff whats that mean? second: if your actually going to do that, calculate in id say 2k for all the parts, your gonna need a new tranny from a 4x4 with the t case, not to mention the 2wd suspension is different from 4. um, if your gonna do it, most other peóple have just done an sas in the process and gottén rid of the ifs. cell phone at work ftl, if that seemed jumbled

ok here's what all i mean. i know id have to find a new tranny, and id be doing dual cases most likely, 63in chevies in back, and a SAS up front. So even if i did get a 4wd id still have to cut out the old ifs and id still do chevies, and id still have to modify the floor boards for the duals. So really some brackets and a new tranny seem to be the main delima

i spoke with pepe at all pro offroad and he told me that i just have to box the front frame rails he didnt say anything about oil pan i also dont see how the oil pan could possibly be a problem if your lifting the truck that would put the axle a long ways away from the pan anyway. but im certainly in the learning stages on this one so you might want to call them. Pepe has a taco thats sas'd so he would be the guy with the info.

actually, If you dont want your pumpkin and front sump oil pan getting in a major fight its very advisable to put a rear sump oil pan from a t100 2.7. check out TTORA.com for more stuff on Taco sas's
