that was compeltly empty and i have no spare tire and like half a exhaust and it was a junk yard so im sure its not exact but my dads 99 4 door taco weighed 4400, but i know for sure my runner weighs less then 4000

No your 4runner is over 4000. 4runners are heavier then the trucks. Your more like 4500 or more.

from the factory, the VZN185L weighs approximately 3930 lb (1782 kg). Those with the longer VF3AM transfer case will weigh a bit more.

Take it easy there. I beleive thats what you saw. Why dont you start to consider that the scale was wrong? Why are thousands of 4runners weighing above 4,000. Is yours made of aluminum?

Im not trying to start a how much stuff weighs discussion here, but:
-
4,600 on one scale, and across town 4,700lbs. And those are both empty leaving the dump with 2 people in the truck. And no where not fat.

And this ones is actually very sensitive about its weight issue. Its a little tuby mc fatty.
Pretty much 5K

you also have to factor in that my 4runner has all the mudflaps gone the rear bumper corners and i have no spare tire and i have normal tires on my runner not the 10 ply tires i see most people run and that i use to run and i only have a 4cylinder, and that gross vehicle weight is differnt then actual weight because gvw has cargo load and full trim options.

Oh you dont have mud flaps. I didnt realize that, sorry. I guess it would make since now that your runner is hundreds of pounds lighter.

Sorry but only way your getting under 4K is to remove all your floor mats and seat covers.

unless that scale was in killagrams or something dumb it read under 4000 ill see if i can find the slip in my car tomorrow, and i dont have floor mats ethier lol theres no seat covers lol i have no front skid plate, and im missing half the gas tank skid. and i belive on that day that i did a scrap run and my runner got weighed i had under a 1/4 tank of gas also. i know it weighs under 4000 with me in it and the inside empty but not much under 4000 i weigh 200, its also missing a passenger seat belt so theres like 5 lbs lol i have no rocker panels on ethier side my back quater pannels are roted off and theres a hole in my floor i can put my hole arm through so i have natural weight reduction....

Like I said, you have a stripper model 4runner, which is not indicative of the normal 4runner rolling around on the streets.

how much did you pay for your 2jz? a friend of mine found an ebay ad for one that was listed as a 2jzgte but was priced as a 7mgte. after the auction ended the guy realized the problem and tried to tell him it was a 7mgte and that he cant sell a 2jz for that price. i told him to get ahold of ebay about the ad and he ended up getting his 2jz with auto tranny for 1200 shipped. he also bought a custom wiring harness for it that set him back 800 dollars so he was 2k into a whole a swap. this was for a fox body mustang.

this is who he bought it from

Vvt-i will be a pain unless you're good with wiring or willing to pay 500+ for a harness. I'd pay for a premade harness if it was me.

VVT-i is worth the trouble IMO. Really extends the powerband a lot.

Although I assume he will be using the stock ECU/harness so not sure why it would be much or any extra trouble.

Just out of curiosity, why subscribe to Mitchell and not Toyota's TechInfo? I'm just thinking straight from Toyota you'd get totally accurate information. Is Mitchell's service cheaper or better? I've never used it, but played with a few 2 day subscriptions to Toyota TIS before.

i sort of miss spoke. The problem with some of the VVT-I engines is the fact they have an immobilizer. it is either built into the ecu or a separate ecu. you could be lucky not have the immobiliser as some of them didnt. if it does have it, good luck.
