Well, changing the timing belt is a PITA, but nothing compared to what a snapped belt would do to a 3VZE.....

Durring your rebuild, you're gonna need a lot of these , and some knowledge of actually, just tools, not welding. And you'll probably be doing plenty of this

well i did my wp, tbelt and thermostat at 105k miles.. i have been stranded before and in a place that would make the weak at heart's butt pucker... luckily i had a 9mm with 16rounds at my disposal.. so needless to say i am a sticker on maintenance lol.. and no my yota has never broken down, it was a damn jeep grand cherokee, go figure. however my wrangler that i had with a 4.0 wasnt too bad. she made it to 189k miles before i traded it in. it had a bad leak around the windsheild and firewall leaking in my floor. oh and had the comuter replaced and a few other odds and ends.

Last time I changed mine at 180K miles (second belt change) I did the water pump too. Pump was fine but I wasn't about to fly in the face of the automotive gods by not changing it. I also had to change both front camshaft seals as they were leaking. Now at 225K miles the back end of the cam seals are leaking. Those don't look easy to change. First thought it was the cam cover gasket so I whipped those out but I'm still weeping a bit of oil.

My waterpump had some residue from leakage I found out but not till I pulled the fan bracket off. I had some buildup where the original silicon gasket mated to the block. My pump had 182k on it.
