those are thicker belts they use on the 3.0 and 3.4. they can go along time! now the thinner belt on my 92 camry 5sfe 2.2 would never go that long! mike

The waterpump chrip is independent from the belt. Could have replaced the waterpump and kept the original belt!
I know I am going to keep the old ones I take off my truck for spares for whenever something crazy happens...belts are belts...

Us 3.4l Owners are lucky that the engine is non-interference.
I would still change it on a normal basis.
96-98 supposedly had a weaker belt the the 99+ hence needing to be changed at 60K first unlike the 99+ that don't need to be changed till the first 90K.
Just a thought.
My first one was done at 60K (just before I got the truck)
I am at 127K, I need to look, i wanted to change it at 120K but just have not had the time.
I just rather be safe then sorry, I don't want to be stranded on the side of the road...

I'm doing my belt/waterpump in the next 3weeks. I'm not sure if its ever been done.I live in a pretty harsh climate in Canada, so i'm curious to see what mine will look like. Currently at 163k - 2000 SR5

my w.p. went to leaking is one of the reasons i did mine as well. my idlers were pretty rough. i wont let it go another 220,000 miles i would say every 100,000 it kosher. unless u just have trouble. Toyota is just playing it safe.
