22R doesnt like to start cold and...

It also idles pretty rough once it does. Once its warm its fine.

It sat for a LONG time without being driven much before I picked her up. It clicks, but the alternator doesnt spin up for a bunch of tries then it fires. Probably just need a new starter? Then it idles a little rough (too many pushes of the gas before I turn her over?) for awhile, and smooth out when warm.

Ideas? This is my first carb motor other than an 01 R6, and it never needed anything, of course.

if it is clicking and its been sitting for awhile its probably the battery... htere is an issue with the starter contacts going bad, but since its been sitting for awhile i would look at the battery first.....

set timing, rpm, idle speed per spec..... that will help it run better.... also if the carb has ever had its mixture plug adjusted/drilled out, it may need adjusting

ok just put together from another thread that you have a aftermarket carb.... that could very possibly be an issue, i only have experience tuning a stock 22r carb.... kyle_22r knows about the 32/36 might want to talk to him about tuning issues.....

get yourself a vacuum diagram and check the AAP line. they like to leak and if the line is full of gas, it'll run pretty rough. also check to see if your idle mixture screw has been messed with(drilled out is an obvious sign)

the vacuum diagram is in the haynes manual or the factory fsm... you can probably find one online here too if you search around for it... i know autozone.com has some repair manual info for some cars

Sounds like your choke isnt working properly, or is set way to lean. Mine does the exact same thing, and its the choke. Something in my electronic one burned out, and im currently waiting on my manual conversion to solve my problem.
