_AutoWeek_ has posted an article on the 2005 Taco unveiled (in X-Runner format) at the Chicago Auto Show:

Some interesting factoids from the article:

- The '05's go on sale in August
- Toyota expects to see a big increase (14%) in sales over the current Taco
- There will be 2 trim levels besides the X-Runner (they weren't specified)
- Production of Tacos at the Mexican plant could begin by the end of calendar '04

Oh I think I know, the other 2 trims will be Y-runner and Z-runner

 

 

Looks like we're going to see how good Mexican build quality is when the Tacoma comes out.

 

Made in Mexico, thought they made Tacos in Japan or is this new for 2005 production.

 

Aren't Tacos made in the US?

 

Tacomas are made in the U.S. exclusively for the North American market. The rest of the world still has pre-Tacoma Hiluxes.
