$1000 for a Clutch?
#26
Contrary to Gadgets comments, I have not had any trouble, slipping, etc. with my Centerforce dual friction clutch. But, then again, I have a 2nd gen 4Runner so maybe like Dude236 said DF clutch may act differently with different engines. I also put in the heavier flywheel when I had the clutch replaced. For what the Centerforce cost, I haven't noticed enough difference from the stock clutch to justify the price. I would stick with OEM parts.
I wouldn't worry about the clutch going out on you. I drove my truck with a badly slipping clutch for at least 6 months before I could make up my mind if I wanted to go the Centerforce route or not. When I finally had it replaced, the service guy couldn't believe how bad it was slipping and I was still driving it. Just have to know how to drive your own vehicle I guess.
