so i have a 02 4runner double din radio and i want to use it on my 98 4runner does the 02 radio have a stock amp like the 98

are the 98 and 02 stock amp connector diffent the one that goes into the radio?

 

it all depends on w/c stock amp is on each truck.
there are 2 kinds w/c i noticed...a yellow and a white plastic covering for the output wires.
the yellow covered one seems like is used for the double din,higher end stereos that come from the factory.
reason why i noticed..i installed a 98 double din cd/tape player combo on my 2000 and it came w/ the yellow one(2000 came w/ the white one) and the plugs didnt match.
what i did was swap amps on both trucks as the power supply for the amp itself is all the same...
radio works perfectly..
i would say you can run the 02 radio on the 98 but to be safe...swap in the 02 amp as well...

no problem....
just be careful buying the correct amp for your radio...if you have the double din type most likely you'll need the yellow pigtailed amp vs the white one(mostly for single din type radios)
best thing to do is post a pic of ur radio on here front and back.

I'll see what mine is I pulled it and the factory amp to put in my Alpine head unit (iPod, HD Radio, Satellite and USB only)
