02 4Runner Will Not start!!

ok so i know i made the mistake, and washed my engine compartment with the engine off, let dry out for a good day or so. when i went to start it i got a single click from the starter. took the time replacing starter contacts still just a single click. had the battery checked, its good and charged. still nothing, any suggestions?

Bet you got water in the spark plug chambers, happened to me once, pull the plug wire (NOT the plug) and see if there is any water in any of the cylinders, if there is, replace all the plugs.

How did it look inside the starter when you took it apart? If it was really corroded, changing the contacts won't always do the trick. Did you clean the 2 connections feeding to the starter?

Check and clean your battery terminals. Also, did you leave something turned on and possibly drain the battery.

Yeah, I'm curious too. . . . No worries about it being something stupid. . . . we've ALL done something stupid once or twice.
