Had to replace the head gasket. It went out on my way home from Denver last night. The Rock gasket that I used from the build kit didn't last but 30k miles. It blew on cyls 1 and 4. I replaced it with a Fel-Pro today. Bummed me out since I really don't have the money to be doing extra stuff on it right now.

I picked one of these up for the truck. Tired of not knowing what my actual temps are. Plus I really don't know if stock is actually working right it not.
http://www.glowshiftdirect.com/blue-...ure-gauge.aspx
The only problem I am having is where to put the temp sensor that came with the gauge. Its 1/8 27 not and the stock one is gigantor and metric. My buddy said I should drill and tap a new hole in the intake or somewhere on the block. I have access to all the tools for drill n tap, working at a machine shop. But im worried about not getting all the chips out of the hole. Anyone have any ideas on how I should go about it?
I am also contemplating on where the gauge itself should go. I was running over the idea of putting it un the stock location inside the cluster because that would look sick. Also thinking of blocking off the little cubby pocket below the drover heater vent with a piece of sheet metal and put the gauge there

So, I talked to a guy at the local parts house about the temp sensor for that new gauge and we started looking into it and we picked out a new sensor that would fit in the existing hole instead of drilling and tapping a new hole. Should come in tomorrow morning. I hope it works haha
Also, did an oil change tonight and I am kinda worried about what I saw in the old oil. There were some very fine glitters. It didn't seem too coarse but I am still really worried about what I know it could mean. I really don't want to be swapping in yet another engine but I just might have to. Thank god for having a spare sitting around. Good engine too, only 125K on a factory build. It came from my buddy's truck and was meant for the 4runner but I just might have to use it for the truck

I got that gauge in. Just drilled and tapped the intake for the glowshift sensor. I talked to one of their tech guys and he said that the gauge would only work accurately with their sensor.

I haven't been on here much in the last 5 months or so and not really done much with the truck. But I did do a tranny swap. The g series went out. Lost the counter shaft bearing. So I swapped in a W56C that my buddy had laying around in his garage. Swapped my 4.7 gear set to a top shift config. So now I have a forward shift tranny with a top shift tcase. I like how it is set upeven though the t case shifter is in a further back position. I've only wheeled twice this season. Tore it up last weekend at Holy Cross. Blew my clutch, I think. It doesn't like going into gear while the engine is running. Starter bolts backed out while on the trail, so it was flopping around. The front end needs a rework. Tie rods, ball joints, and a new idler are in order. Thankfully all of that is covered with a lifetime warranty through the local parts house.

Looking like we have to pull the tranny back out. I think my fly wheel loosened up on my last outing. When I tlteplaced the starter the other day the chirp noise that I thought was the throe out bearing came back. It happens to be the flywheel grinding on the starter house in... Hooray!! So while I work this weekend my buddy is going to help me out and fix my junk. Including new clutch. Hoping to have a Marlin HD going in there.

End result of the tranny was: the two bottom bellhousing bolts had fallen out and the motor kept torquing the flywheel into the starter. Pulled the tranny anyway. Found that the pilot bearing was toast. So at the end a new pilot and a new clutch disc was all she needed. Also turned the t case shift handle 180 deg to keep it from hitting the tranny handle. Everything is fine now. LOVE this new tranny! So much better than the G series. Next week is the Jambo here in CO and I am totally stoked to go. Need to wheel so bad!

Great to get to the bottom of something isn't it? I wish I could find that feeling again in regards to my gremlins ! Grrrrrrr! Haha.
Glad your happy with the trans! People often don't realize how much of a huge difference it can make when wheeling, to have a transmission shift smoothly in all in ergonomic(conducive to the flow of the body/when things just seem to fit, physically) fashion.

Sorry I aint been on much... No internet at my new place except for my phone and it is kind of hard to post pics from it. Stupid Windows Phone.
Not much been going on with the truck except driving it and wheeling the piss out of it. Finally got a brand new set of tires. 33" kevlars. I am going to have to do the front end again before too long so they don't start wearing weird. I am also going to ditch the welded rear end for an E locker. Hopefully set up some 4.88s as well.
Here are some Pics from the past however many months...

Spring Creek October
What a hell trip it was. At the end of the day it took like 12 hours to run the whole thing. Carnage included: one roll over, one valve stem, one rear drive line, one 37'' Irok sidewall, a motor mount, and a tail light lense.
Al rolled right off the bat
