i took the timing cover off. put my chain on it. and im putting all the parts off my old engine on this one.
when tearing it apart the engine looked to be in really good shape like it might have been a rebuilt.

2. i dont want people to see tht i disnt clean the block up. i would have cleaned it up but i just want to get it running asap.

all i have left on the engine is the oil pan, vacuum hoses, drop it in, electrical, and fluids. i think everything else is set. im hoping to have it running by the end of this weekend.

happy thanksgiving, im a lil late.

got more work done today. got the motor about finishd up and dropped in.
all together

before dropping in

you cant tell but its in now

its in the air because i was bolting the bell housing up and tomarrow im gonna weld a couple of cracks in my exhaust. Man the top bell housing bolt on the drive side is a PITA when you dont lower the back of the tranny but i got it in, using 1/8 increments with a ratchet wrench from the top.

now the fun part=(
hooking up all the electrical and vacuum hoses.

she's alive

after working all wenseday, little bit thursday, some on friday and a lot on sat my toyota lives again.

incounter lots of little problems.
-gasket didnt get scraped off lower intake so their was a water laek between the intake and block, had to remove upper and lower intake
-then snapped a bolt trying to bolt the lower intake on, thankfully i was able to unbolt the intake and just unscrew the broken bolt by hand. all new bolts were used on the intake after tht.
incountered an oil leak because part of my round rubber gasket got caught between the oil pump gear and housing.
-both my manifold studs to the lower pipe had bad threads spent lot of time fixing tht. and my third stud was missing and a bolt was used, well the threads were stripped so i had to tap a bigger hole in.

still have to take it on a test drive and make sur all the little bugs are worked out but she was backed out of the shop under her own power

finally

time to edit the sig

so today i started to do a cooling system flush. ill finish it on friday. i figured id flush the radiator because i had put stop leak in the old engine before i new how bad it was and because my engine sat upside down completely drained of water in a ditch in the hills. who knows what might have gotten in the water passages.

i also swapped the gauge cluster out of the wrecked truck its pretty beat up but now i have a tach!

im not done installing it. as u can see i wasnt joking it has been through a lot. out of the 4 tabs their are to screw it in place it has 1 the other 3 are broken off.

and just because this is a yota site here is a pic of my other 4runner

just but 510 mi on her sunday. i drove from sacramento to vallejo to redding to vallejo to sacramento. i sat in the truck for about 8hrs

so i figured that the problem with the throttle jumping around from 1500-1800rpm and then jumping to 3000rpm had to do with my tp sensor. so today before i took it to get smogged i just swapped the whole throttle body and tp sensor of the berry and bolted it to the scav. and whola the problem went away along with it bounce around @idle when stepping on the brake after warming up. so thts the good news

bad news. it failed smog. running rich and they didnt like my exhaust leak. so this sat im going to either grrind all the welds of the exhaust and re-weld it or possible take the whole exhaust from manifold all the way back off the berry and put it on, then take it off once it passes.
i did a smoke test last weekend and found some vacuum leaks: injector2&3 seals were bad, some vacuum lines and my cold start injector were leaking. so i fixed those retested and found my EGR to leak some. so i have another one tht came with this engine off the wrecked truxk so im going to swap them and see how tht goes.

but to cheer anyone reading up i found mudd the night before

my brother fez's view

and my view of the left lane

after the 1st 4 were taking we went back and got the whole truck covered and then left. i was going to take an after pic when i got to my dads but we couldnt get any light, the truck was kinda caked. i woke up this morning to it raining and their was a pile of mud in a ring around the truck.

swapped egr and O2 sensor and welded all the holes in the exhaust tht i could get to. but it still failed. guy told me to get a new exhaust and a new cat. i may just swap exhaust off both yotas just to get this one to pass and swap them back afterwards. idk yet ill see next sat.

on other hand i went and played in the mudd las night with the berry

and the next day after soaking

bad news is while playin in the mudd last night something happened and my clutch wont engage. so i had to drive home with out a clutch and basically with out stopping, good thing i was about 10-15mins from home.
after looking at it today i saw tht on the scav their is a rubber boot tht covers the clutch fork so nothing can get into the bell housing while on the berry tht boot isnt their. so im thing mud got in my bell housing and messed my clutch up

got it on the rack and un-bolted both drive lines and the x-member tomarrow after work ima drive back to my dads and un bolt the tranny and see how bad it looks. i have another clutch tht came of the engine i just installed so i have parts.

now for the good news:
i sold the AFM of the wrecked 85
so now heres the numbers
125.00 for gas to pick wrecked truck up
-98.25 for scrap metal from wrecked truck
-20.00 for AFM of wrecked truck
--------
6.75 is what i have into it now
